Comedian Ramy Youssef Getting his Own Sitcom on Hulu

In January of this year we published an article about American Muslim stand-up comedian Ramy Youssef with the title Meet Ramy Youssef, the American Muslim Comedian Definitely Going Places. The guy is really talented and is making very good progress in his acting career.

The latest update on Ramy’s work came from Hulu, the on demand video service, which announced at its annual upfronts presentation that it’s ordering a sitcom series based on the real life of Ramy Youssef.

“The series takes viewers into the world of Ramy, a first generation American Muslim who is on a spiritual journey in his politically-divided New Jersey neighborhood. Ramy will bring a new perspective to the screen as it explores the challenges of what it’s like being caught in between an Egyptian community that thinks life is a moral test, and a millennial generation that thinks life has no consequences.” Hulu.

The sitcom is written, created by and starring Ramy Youssef; executive produced by Jerrod Carmichael, co-creators Ari Katcher and Ryan Welch as well as Ravi Nandan.
